The Southeast Florida Regional Climate compact is a consolidated example of how to share solutions and good practices for the implementation of water and climate related sustainability development goals.
The Compact involves all stakeholders in water management and governance aspects related to climate change. For instance, its Regional Climate Action Plan was developed through an extensive stakeholder engagement process, and contains 110 recommendations for a more resilient Southeast Florida.
The Compact was formalized following the 2009 Southeast Florida Climate Leadership Summit, when elected officials came together to discuss challenges and strategies for responding to the impacts of climate change. The Compact outlines an ongoing collaborative effort among the Compact Counties to foster sustainability and climate resilience at a regional scale.
