Citizen Village

The Citizen Village is designed by Citizen Forum Process. This is a free, open space for the public of the 8th World Water Forum. There, people will be able to take part in educational, cultural, interactive, sensory and dialogue-building activities aimed at improving the use of water. This is a space for all who wish to participate.

The goal of the Village is to raise awareness, public attention and social participation concerning water-related issues, in addition to promoting innovative solutions for the problems that citizens face in their daily lives.

The Citizen Village is an area for everyone! Young people, adults and children. The Brazilian society, as well as all visitors from other countries, can enjoy an aggregating and interactive environment where the central theme is the conscious use of water.

Olhos D ' Água Avenue (Water Springs Avenue) will be the gateway for visitors to the Citizen Village, an entertainment educational space open to the public during the 8th World Water Forum.

Along the way, photographs of large rivers on the planet will lead to an immersion in the water theme and its importance for the maintenance of life.

The Solutions Market will present 60 individual or community experiences from around the world, all related to good practices in water use. The idea is that visitors understand they can replicate the initiatives or create their own solutions.

Other experiences can be seen at the Citizen Village’s projection screens, which will display films related to water from different countries. The 18 best feature films and 25 short films will be shown in Brasilia at four different times, from March 18 to 22. About 70 films registered for the Citizen’s Voice will be presented at the thematic sessions.

An arena for 300 people will host conferences, presentations and talk shows with national and international guests. The arena will be a meeting point, favoring dialogue and interaction between participants from various areas of the 8th Forum.

The Green Nation area is the space where the water and environmental themes will be united and people can relate them to their daily lives. It will have an educational and interactive character with immersive scenarios, for visitors of all ages.

The Brasilia Area will feature a wide range of activities to introduce the country's capital, host city of the 8th World Water Forum.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the food bikes of various specialties diffused all over the Village.

The 8th World Water Forum will be open to the participation of the entire society, and the Citizen Village will be a casual, educational, and integration space that allows for the exchange of information on water as a vital element for human beings.

The Citizen Village will occupy an area of 10,000 square meters and will be open from the 17 to the 23 of March, 2018, from 9 am to 9 pm, at Brasília’s National Stadium, Mané Garrincha. Entrance is free, but visitors must register on site or in advance through the event’s website.
